COO Appointment Targets New Areas for Indigenous Careers Success

One of Australia’s largest Indigenous employment organisations, the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES), has appointed Scott Melville as its Chief Operations Officer (COO).
Previously a senior manager with AMP, Westpac and Commonwealth Bank, Melville brings fifteen years experience in customer services to the new position.
He will work alongside AES CEO, Danny Lester, to develop and implement strategic initiatives that will drive growth across key business sectors, including the mining/resources industry.
Lester says the appointment bolsters the organisation’s senior executive ranks as the business continues to expand into new sectors, creating long-term careers for Indigenous Australians.
Lester says Scott’s recruitment into the growing AES business is a major coup that will strengthen the organisation’s leadership board with decades of experience in the corporate sector.
“Scott brings a significant skills set to the AES with proven expertise and a track record in building businesses, leading teams and influencing stakeholders,” Lester said.
Lester also said the appointment comes at a time when more Australian businesses were engaging organisations like the AES to form partnerships in their efforts to advance career prospects for Indigenous Australians.
“With Indigenous employment now firmly set as a priority on the national agenda, more and more Australian businesses are realising the important part they can play in helping Indigenous Australians secure long term careers.
“The AES has been a pioneer in this sector and with Scott on board we will be able to increase efficiency and deliver these services on a larger scale,” Lester added.
“Melville has 15 years experience in developing and driving customer service strategy, new service initiatives, process improvements, workforce optimisation and major projects for leading financial institutions, including Westpac and AMP.”
