Australian Not for Profit Theraputic Guidelines Limited (TGL) has appointed Dr Sue Phillips to the role of chief executive.
With a professional interest in promoting the uptake of research into clinical practice, Dr Phillips joins the organisation from the National Health and Medical Research Council’s National Institute of Clinical Studies where she served as Director.
In this capacity she led national guideline development, implementation and fellowship programs aimed at improving the quality of health care.
Since 2009 Dr Phillips has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Guidelines-International-Network (G-I-N), working with international colleagues to support evidence-based health care and improve global health outcomes.
Dr Phillips said that she is enthusiastic about the opportunity to lead TGL into its next phase of growth.
“Therapeutic Guidelines is a leading organisation in evidence-based independent guidelines, with a unique process for producing clear, concise and up to date information for busy clinicians,” she said.
“Rapid changes in health care, technology and publishing make it a very exciting time to be working in this area and I’m looking forward to this challenge.”
Therapeutic Guidelines Ltd chairman, Richard Kneebone said: “We welcome Dr Sue Phillips to Therapeutic Guidelines and feel confident that she will bring to TGL a wealth of experience in the development of guidelines, both nationally and internationally”.
TGL’s founding chief executive Mary Hemming retired from the role in January. She had been in the role for 16 years.
“We look forward to working with Dr Phillips in continuing to expand the work that Therapeutic Guidelines does in improving the quality of health care,” Mr Kneebone said.
