Homeless related organisations are being offered an opportunity to advance purchase discounted tickets for a new Australian musical production about a homeless “bag lady” to help raise funds for their organisation and homeless initiatives.
Organisers say the sale of discounted “Red Roses Musical” tickets can potentially raise from $5,000 to $15,000.
The producer, Kevin Moore, is asking for “Expressions of Interest” to determine the numbers of discounted tickets that will be required before the normal price tickets go on sale to the general public in late February.
The Red Roses Musical has a fantasy story line that was inspired by a real incident when a homeless “bag lady” wandered into an upmarket department store to play classical music on their grand piano, with all the skill of a concert pianist.
The Red Roses Musical will soon be touring all Australian capital cities (Brisbane to Canberra to Sydney to Melbourne to Hobart to Adelaide to Perth) and will be staged in a 4,000 seat “Mega Tent” that will be located in parklands with easy proximity to city centres.
There will be four night performances each week in every city (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday), with a night and matinee performance on the Saturday.
All proceeds from the Thursday night performances (in each city) will be donated to The Salvation Army for homeless initiatives in that city.
Moore says he would like to also acknowledge the homeless services provided by other homeless organisations and City Councils and would like to offer these organisations and Councils discounted Red Roses tickets to sell and to raise funds for their own homeless organisations, for their own homeless initiatives, or for employee social clubs.
“General public ticket prices are usually $100 plus GST plus ticketing agency commissions.
Under the discount ticket structure, each homeless organisation or council social club can potentially raise between $5,000 and $15,000 for their own organisation or for their homeless initiatives by selling the discounted tickets.”
Homeless organisations/City Councils can visit the Red Roses temporary ticketing website at www.redrosesmusicaltour.com for more detailed information on the musical and to lodge their “Expression of Interest”.
After lodging the “Expression of Interest”, the producer will contact the organisation closer to the performance dates and will advise the performance dates and times, discount ticket prices, and how you can receive the discounted tickets.
Moore says there is no obligation to purchase discount tickets after lodging your “Expression of Interest”, no fees involved, and discount tickets will be available in all capital cities and for any performance night.
The musical will premiere in Brisbane in May 2012. Moore says the names of the stars performing in the musical will be revealed in February.
