Aussie NFP Staff Win US Technology Scholarships
3 December 2010 at 4:24 pm

Three Australian Not for Profit workers are set to attend the world’s largest NFP technology conference courtesy of scholarships provided by Connecting Up Australia (CUA).

The scholarships were awarded to Christopher John from Lifeline Tasmania, Sarah Pulis from Media Access Australia and Ozchild’s Erica Thompson, who will attend the Nonprofit Technology Conference in the USA next year. The annual conference is organised by the US organisations Nonprofit Technology Network.

CUA says the three were chosen for their commitment to improving their organisations' access to technology and social media and were chosen from entries submitted from all over Australia.

CUA CEO Doug Jacquier says it is vital that Australian charities and Not for Profits get exposure to the latest developments in technology to assist with their helping programs, fund-raising and organisational efficiency.

Jacquier says there is no substitute for the networking and exposure to innovation that experiences like the NTC conference provide.

The scholarship winners will be supported by CUA’s Online Content Manager, Shai Coggins, to use social media tools to report their findings and experiences to the Australian charitable and Not for Profit community.

The Scholarships are worth up to $5000 each and include return economy airfares, full conference registration, and a US$500 contribution towards accommodation and meals.

The US based NTEN will provide scholarships for workers from US charity groups to attend CUA’s Connecting Up conference in Melbourne in June 2011.
