The Australian Women Donors Network is to host a community conversation event on creating effective social change in Melbourne.
How to create long-term strategic social change is the focus of the panel discussion at the Arts Centre on Friday 22nd October featuring five local heroes and international philanthropic expert Tracy Gary.
“The Changemaker Within!” is a one-off Melbourne only event moderated by philanthropic executive of Portland
House, Genevieve Timmons and panel line-up including :
• Tracy Gary, Philanthropic Advisor & Donor Activist from Inspired Legacies, USA;
• Carol Schwartz AM, Deputy Chair of the Australian Women Donors Network & Director of Trawalla
Foundation;
• Jan Owen AM, New CEO of Foundation for Young Australians & Founder of CREATE Foundation;
• Denis Moriarty, founder and group Managing Director of Our Community;
• Michelle Commandeur, Head of Community Relations ANZ;
• Simon Herd, Vice-President of the Myer Foundation.
CEO of the Australian Women Donors Network, Julia Keady says the combined expertise of the six panelists lends for an exceptionally thorough and informed discussion on how everyone has the capacity to be a changemaker by giving of not only resources but also time and abilities.
Keady says international guest Tracy Gary’s personal breadth of experience in this space is unrivalled, having worked with over 7,000 wealth holders and 3,000 Not for profits and co-founded 18 NFPs over the past 30 years.

Keady says the community conversations event was created as a vehicle for inspiring and educating a new wave of potential philanthropists on the possibilities of social change, particularly in the area of women’s philanthropy.
