Voting is open in the 3rd Annual Getting Attention Nonprofit Tagline Awards.

Now in their third year the awards, the awards recognise the best Not for Profit taglines across 16 categories – fundraising taglines, program taglines, special event taglines and 13 organisational categories.

70 finalist have been selected from the more than 2,700 taglines from 1,700 Not for Profit organisations that entered into this year’s awards

Getting Attention publisher Nancy Schwart says the awards will sharpen voters understanding of what works and what doesn’t message wise, and inform and inspire their organisations communications.

Schwartz says a strong tagline is vital. It’s the anchor for an organization’s brand and, next to its name, the marketing message most heard and repeated, but seven of ten organizations don’t have a tagline or rate theirs as working poorly.

The 2,700 nominations and the results of the poll will be used to create the 2011 Getting Attention Nonprofit Tagline Report, due to be published later this year.

Voting is an opportunity to find inspiration, and re-examine your organisations tagline.

Here are some of Pro Bono Australia’s favourites:

  • Elephants Never Forget — Youth Campaign against circuses that abuse animals – PETA
  • Once Around is Never Enough — Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum
  • E.R. You Watch It… We Live It! — Indiana State Council of the Emergency Nurses Association
  • Helping children succeed, one move at a time — Chess For Success
  • Connecting passion with purpose — The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta
  • Help is a four-legged word — Canine Companions for Independence
