Engineers Without Borders New CEO Lizzie Brown |
Engineers Without Borders has announced that the current Operations Director Lizzie Brown is the organisation’s new CEO, taking over from current CEO Daniel Almagor from May 2010.
Engineers Without Borders Australia (EWB) is a Not for Profit development organisation working with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through education and the implementation of sustainable engineering projects.
Lizzie Brown founded the first EWB Queensland chapter in 2004, and since becoming the Education Officer for the EWB in 2006, the organisation says she has played an important role in the management of all EWB operations.
Although based in EWB’s Queensland office, Brown says she is looking forward to moving to Melbourne to take up the new role.
Daniel Almagor will step down as CEO after 7 years at the helm |
Almagor, one of the founders of EWB, has spent seven years as the organisation’s CEO after starting EWB as a response to the limited opportunities for engineers to get involved with international development. Seven years on and EWB has more than 5,000 members, 20 chapters and in 2009 alone, had over 100 volunteers working directly in sustainable community development projects in both Australia and overseas.
