Infoxchange Introduces Employment Navigator

Not for Profit technology provider, Infoxchange is working with the government’s Collaborative Internet Innovation Fund and project partners to create an innovative jobs service called Employment Navigator.
Through the use of interactive ‘Web 2.0’ technologies, Employment Navigator is set to provide useful connections between job seekers and the resources to help them find and keep sustainable employment.
The project partners include the Brotherhood of St Laurence, City of Yarra and Jobs Australia.
Job seekers, whether supported by a case worker or not, would be guided through the process, and provided with helpful tools and advice to achieve a positive outcome. Resources would be aggregated through partnerships in the community, industry and government.
Jurgen Schaub, Infoxchange’s senior technology officer says that with the unemployment rate predicted to reach over eight per cent, we need to ensure that those at the end of the queue are provided with opportunities to participate in the workforce. Employment Navigator would empower unemployed people to take control of their situation and find support to enter the workforce from employment services, find support to gain training and find support from peers.
Schaub says the Web 2.0 focus provides an exciting way to engage with their partners and the wider community in the development of this project.
He says by incorporating this new style of development and deployment, they will be able to provide a much more innovative and flexible system than they could using traditional methodologies.
