Habitat for Humanity - New CEO

Business executive Jo Brennan is stepping out of the corporate world of the Macquarie Group and into the Not for Profit sector as the new CEO of Habitat for Humanity Australia.
And the irony is not lost on Brennan that her move comes at a time when Australia and New Zealand are reported to have the most unaffordable housing in the English speaking world.
Brennan hopes to use her experience in the corporate world to build on the organisation’s mission to provide affordable housing for families in need and to drive its home ownership model both in Australia and across the Asia Pacific.
Brennan says she was drawn to Habitat for Humanity because it gives her the opportunity to work for an organisation that directly helps people by delivering a unique self-sustaining home ovwnerdship model that offers families a hand up not a hand out.
Brennan comes to Habitat with significant operational, major project and consulting experience gained over a twenty year career working with Macquarie Group, Santos Ltd, NAB, Ernst and Young and as a teacher. She also has an appreciation of what it means to be a volunteer -as a member of the SA Catholic Finance Board and past representative of the Rural Youth Young Farmers organisation and volunteer at the local soup kitchen.
HFHA’s Chairman, David Benn says that after meeting numerous high calibre candidates for the position of CEO the organisation felt that Brennan had the knowledge and the passion to grow an already successful organisation.
Jo Brennan replaces former CEO George MacDonald, who is now with the Cape York Institute in Cairns; and is based in the organisations’ North Sydney office.
Habitat for Humanity is a Not for Profit home ownership organisation that builds and renovates simple, safe, decent, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families in need.
