Issues for Australian Volunteers - e-Forum

In the lead up to International Volunteer Day in December, Volunteering Australia wants to know what issues are concerning Australian volunteers.

Following on from a recent quick poll Volunteering Australia found the three top issues are: that 52% are concerned about costs of volunteering, 26% are concerned about the information and training they receive, and 22% are concerned about their rights as a volunteer.

Following on from this poll, wants Australia’s volunteers have their say in more detail.

To celebrate volunteers and volunteerism, Volunteering Australia is holding an e-forum offering an opportunity for volunteers to have their say and discuss issues with their peers.

The e-forum went live on 12 November and will be open for 4 weeks.

The e-forum is divided into 3 sections:

• The Talk to our guests section will take you to articles of previous and current discussions led by guests over a period of two days.
• The Article discussion section will take you to a page showing a list of opinion pieces with summarised comments, references and weblinks.
• The Open discussion link will open on the list of topics.

Read more about participating in the e-Forum.

International Volunteer Day (IVD) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985. IVD is now celebrated world wide with thousands of volunteers involved in a range of IVD initiatives including clean-up campaigns, conferences, exhibitions, morning teas and many other activities all aimed to highlight the role of volunteers in their communities.
