Parent's Guide to Child Support

The Child Support Agency (CSA) has released a new booklet called the Parent’s Guide to Child Support to help separated parents understand the newly reformed child support system.
General Manager of the CSA Matt Miller says the Parent’s Guide to Child Support explains, in simple and clear detail, how child support is calculated and includes information on how CSA provides support and service.
The free publication was developed following feedback from parents about what information and tools they needed to understand their options and have more control over their child support.
Miller says it’s also a useful resource for organisations that assist parents who might be considering separation.
The Parent’s Guide contains practical information including how to make care arrangements for children with an ex partner, different payment options, enforcement services, and contact details for support and advocacy services.
The booklet is sent to all new CSA customers when their child support case is registered and provides everything separated parents need to know about the new Scheme and how the CSA administers it.
Currently the CSA registers approximately 85,000 new child support cases each year.
The Parent’s Guide is free and is available online at www.csa.gov.au or can be ordered by calling the CSA publications hotline on 1800 040 972.
