Vale Sandra Bardas

The Australian community has lost a dynamic activist and social change philanthropist with the death of Sandra Bardas over the Christmas break.
Pro Bono Australia Founder Karen Mahlab has written this tribute.
Sandra who was 65, was beautiful: tall, raven haired, smiling. She was also a woman of substance. My first memorable interaction with her was over the Jabulika Uranium mine, against which she was passionately campaigning.
Sandra was quietly active in the gritty, more difficult issues we face. Considering her wealthy heritage she was always understated in her style and edgy in her philanthropy not necessarily agreeing with the status quo nor being very public in her giving or requiring recognition.
She will be sorely missed by the many organisations she was involved with and those who knew her. We want to pay our respects to the life of a very good woman and to offer our condolences to her family, particularly David and their six children, her siblings and their parents Victor and Lotti Smorgan.
