Jack Heath, the Founder and Executive Director of Inspire, has won the Australian National Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award at a ceremony held in Melbourne.
National winners were announced across several categories – Social, Technological, Young Entrepreneur – with Shane Yeend, founder and director of interactive entertainment business ‘Imagination’, taking out the overall Australian Entrepreneur Of The Year Award.
Established in 1986, the Awards span 40 countries, and celebrate those who are creating, building and leading dynamic and successful businesses, while making outstanding contributions to the business community.
The Australian arm of the program was launched in Australia in 2001, and is one of the country’s leading business awards programs.
It has so far recognised over 600 leading Australians for their entrepreneurial business success and each year, through its global program, acknowledges some 10,000 entrepreneurs worldwide.
Founded and produced by Ernst & Young, the program is supported in Australia by Westpac Business Banking, Qantas, Austrade and AusIndustry.
In accepting the award, Jack Heath said "I think Albert Einstein once said "Great things are never achieved alone." Or in Inspire speak, "always together never alone".
This award marks the end of the first ten years of Inspire.
Heath said it was an honour and a privilege to work with a team of such great people – young people, supporters, Board and staff – doing amazing things.
