High profile Chief Executive with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, Elizabeth Crundall has resigned to take on a new role developing corporate philanthropy.
Chairman of the Foundation, Jack Ford, announced Crundall’s resignation effective from mid December 2007.
Crundall has had 11 years at the helm of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation and is acknowledged as being a leader in the charity sector generating a massive growth in profits of more than 400%, achieved continued growth in fundraising revenue of 5,492% and setting new benchmarks by reducing operating costs to as little as 5% while creating a recognised brand for the Hospital.
Jack Ford explained that in 1996 when Crundall was appointed Chief Executive, the Foundation raised less than $1Million. Today it generates over $13Million net profit.
He says this success and growth is built on solid foundations and can be attributed to her outstanding leadership of a tremendous staff, the loyalty of donors and Sydney Children’s Hospital being an outstanding paediatric medical institution.
Ford describes Crundall as a strategic business woman who has successfully combined her entrepreneurial drive with her passion for the health and wellbeing of children. As a result, the future for the Foundation is exciting. In the past few months, new initiatives have been established to ensure top of mind awareness and strategic growth in income which will assist her successor in this challenging and exciting role as we move forward.
Jack Ford paid tribute saying Crundall is a distinguished Australian, an outstanding champion for child health and an inspiration for others to follow. When she leaves us at the end of the year, she leaves an outstanding legacy to paediatric medicine and thousands of children and their families.
A finalist in this year’s Veuve Clicquot Business Women’s Awards, Crundall will pursue a career as a private consultant to the corporate sectors to help develop corporate philanthropy in Australia.
Crundall says the Hospital is an extraordinary place and she has been privileged to have been inspired by the wonderful work of some of the world’s leading medical staff and the children and families they care for.
She says very few companies do corporate philanthropy well. If embraced well it is not that difficult and the benefits are enormous; not just for the Not for Profit involved but for company morale and staff generally.
Crundall says she is also interested in assisting Not for Profits where a corporate person has been attracted to the charity sector and she can act as a touchstone to ensure the transition is successful.
