For the first time since its establishment in 1997, the Melbourne Community Foundation has made over a million dollars worth of grants in the 2004-2005 financial year.

The MCF reports that 119 grants were made to organisations and community groups across a wide range of interest areas and target groups.
The MCF’s annual report describes those grant areas as education, training, employment for children and young people, community development, advocacy, arts/culture, medical research/health, environment, indigenous, overseas aid, disability and community services.
The MCF now has a corpus of $18 million under management. During the 2004-2005 financial year the grants total was $1,150,576 compared to $662,866 in the previous year.
The total amount distributed since MCF’s inception is $4,377,625.
