2005 AbaF Gold Book Launch
28 November 2005 at 12:11 pm

Relationships between the private sector and the arts that “reach places the partners never dreamed possible” are celebrated in The Gold Book 2005, published by the Australia Business Arts Foundation.

Australian Government Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp launched The Gold Book 2005 in Sydney this month.

Senator Kemp told the launch audience that the Gold Book’s examples of partnering, giving and volunteering demonstrate how the private sector is contributing to the sustainability of the arts.

The Gold Book 2005 contains 33 case studies of partnerships, organisations and individuals that were winners and finalists at the 2005 AbaF Awards.

They include:

– Partnership of the Year Singapore Airlines and Art Exhibitions Australia. The partnership between Singapore Airlines and Art Exhibitions Australia has lasted some 18 years, in which time the airline has flown many priceless artworks to Australia for exhibitions such as The Gold of the Pharaohs, The Dutch Masters and Masterpieces from the Musee D’Orsay.

– Winner of the Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Cultural Leadership Award – Lyndon Terracini

– Winners of the Richard Pratt Business Leadership Awards – David Gonski and Harold Mitchell

– The Nelson Meers Foundation which won the Goldman Sachs JBWere Artsupport Australia Philanthropy Leadership Award

– A range of other business and arts organisations including large and small companies from metropolitan, regional and rural areas.

Publication of The Gold Book 2005 was sponsored by AbaF’s Major Partner Australia Post.

AP’s Managing Director Graeme John says each of the creative and innovative relationships detailed in the book is an inspiration for practitioners of sponsorship, philanthropy or volunteering – proof that relationships between the private sector and the arts bring many benefits for the partners and the community at large.

The Gold Book is available free from AbaF – phone 03 9616 0300 or email information@abaf.org.au .
