Fundraising in 2005 - Instant Poll Results

As Australian charities try to remain optimistic about fundraising in 2005 Pro Bono Australia’s On Line Instant Poll reflects concerns of a huge downturn in giving.
Some 62% of our readers believe their organisations will face a decrease in their expected donations as a result of the generosity towards the Boxing Day Tsunami victims.
Another 28% however believe there will be no change to their fundraising capabilities in the next 12 months.
And just 10% believe their funds will increase as a result of the surge in generosity to the survivors in Southern Asia.
Clare Collins, the Corporate Communications Manager of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Foundation, reflects that optimism in her comments.
She writes: Those of us who work in the NFP sector would almost certainly have thought that this extraordinary level of giving would have an impact on our donations. I think it will, but in a way that will bring long-term benefits to all community groups.
In the wake of the tsunami, we as a community have experienced the benefits of giving. I feel the impact will be a positive one both for the people who will benefit by the tsunami appeal and for all charitable organisations who rely on donations to provide our services. We have learned that it is good to give and we will continue to give to help others in a way we never have before.
