Social Ventures Australia brings you the SVA Essentials Series 2004; two one-day programs highlighting the most important issues facing the Not for Profit sector today.
The Series will give participants the opportunity to learn about best practice models, share ideas and knowledge, engage in fierce conversations and be supported by “how to” processes to apply new concepts.
International experts, Norman Drummond and Kingsley Aikins will draw on their renowned success and learnings as keynote presenters over two interstate Series.
In Series One, Norman Drummond, the Founder & Chairman of Drummond International will be the Key Note speaker with his topic Common Ground – building successful partnerships based on missions, innovation and diversity.
The afternoon session offers three workshops to choose from:
1. COMMON PURPOSE
Leading Australian corporate and community partners showcase and share –
– The benefits and outcomes achieved for each party to date
– The complexities of establishing and managing sophisticated and enduring relationships
– Growing and adapting your existing relationships and partnerships
– Common issues arising in long term relationships and partnerships
– Strategies for initiating and dealing with changing needs
– Measuring the partnership performance
2. COMMON OUTCOMES
Community, business and government sectors collaborating to achieve outcomes at the local level –
– Building relationships and leadership at the local level
– Understanding synergies and shared vision
– Establishing purposeful partnerships
– Setting terms of engagement and outcomes to be achieved
– Sharing, accessing and creating community resources
– Measuring and celebrating success
3. COMMON LANGUAGE
Building common understandings through one to one engagement across sectors:
– Harnessing expertise from across sectors through mentoring
– Designing a tailor made mentoring program for your organisation
– Mentor induction and support
– How to set and manage expectations of mentors and mentees
– Critical success factors – Common pitfalls
– “Real life” lessons learned
– Tools for monitoring and evaluating your mentor program
Series One will take place in Melbourne on Friday 16 July, and in Sydney on Tuesday 20 July.
In Series Two, Kingsley Aikins, the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Ireland Funds will be the Key Note speaker on the topic of The Challenge Of Sustainability – creating revenue models to ensure longevity for not for profit organisations.
The afternoon session offers three workshops to choose from:
– Training – Tools for diagnosing the short and medium term sustainability of your organisation;
– Showcase – Social Firm UK, the highly successful model encompassing 150 sustainable social enterprises;
– Case Studies – The success of indigenous co-operatives
Series Two will take place in Melbourne on Tuesday 26 October and in Sydney on Wednesday 27 October.
The cost of these workshops is $245 (including GST) for Earlybird registration before Friday, June 11 and includes Workshop materials, access to Pro Bono Corporate Advice Booths, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and the Networking cocktail event 5pm–6.30pm.
