How To, Where To (H2W2) Creative Guide

The Australia Council for the Arts has released a new guidebook, How to Where to (H2W2), to give young creative people the ‘absolute lowdown’ on how to develop an arts project and where to find resources and support.
Australia Council CEO, Jennifer Bott says that every year young people contact the Council with great ideas, energy and drive but aren’t sure how to develop their concepts into something tangible or, in many cases, even where to begin.
Bott says the H2W2 will help turn great ideas into great art.
She says H2W2 is practical and action-driven, showing young artists how to develop ideas, manage projects well and then move on to the next project.
The guide includes a list of contacts for advice and covers fund raising, publicity tactics, dealing with funding bodies, the secrets of teamwork, balancing budgets, troubleshooting, risk analysis, contingency planning and valuing volunteers.
There are also case histories from people who have themselves grown good creative ideas into successful projects.
H2W2 completes the Australia Council’s ‘trilogy’ of publications for young people: Young People and the Arts policy, Getting Connected: Making your mentorship work and, now, H2W2.
Pro Bono Australia has hard copies of the Guide to give away. Just send us an email with “H2W2 Guide” in the subject line to probono@probonoaustralia.com.au. Please provide your postal address.
