Orchestrating Leadership

Musical conductors are by definition leaders. But the Australian Youth Orchestra is about to embark on a special event – a leadership presentation by conductor, and internationally renowned corporate leadership speaker, Benjamin Zander that will bring together business leaders with tomorrow’s musical greats.

Zander is visiting Australia to conduct the Australian Youth Orchestra in April. They will be performing Mahler’s Second Symphony, together with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, in Canberra and at the Sydney Opera House.

But in a first for Australia, Zander will be speaking to leaders in business and the arts in the presentation called “Orchestrating the Executive Team – A Metaphor for Leadership.”

He will be accompanied on the stage of the Sydney Opera House by the full Australian Youth Orchestra. The event takes place on April 6th.

Organisers say the event promises to be an extraordinary experience in leadership for all participants, but it is also an important event for AYO in raising awareness for the organisation, and a fabulous opportunity for the corporate sector to be involved in the arts in a new way.

Benjamin Zander is conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, and is widely regarded as one of the most inspiring conductors of his generation. He is also a much sought after speaker worldwide on leadership and creativity, and has addressed on a number of occasions the World Economic and State of the World Forums.

He has been described as “the hottest property on the management guru circuit.” What makes him unique in the circle of leadership experts is that he uses the metaphor of the orchestra to provide startling new perspectives on overcoming barriers to corporate and personal productivity.

The Australian Youth Orchestra, Australian Davos Connection and Sydney Opera House have collaborated on this special event.

The ticket price for the event is $165 (GST incl.). A special discounted ticket price of $99 (GST incl.) is offered to members of the Not for Profit sector (participants need to list their organisation on the registration form to take advantage of this offer).
