eGive - Affordable On Line Donation Management
17 February 2003 at 12:02 pm
Earth Share Australia has launched a timely Internet portal that should take the frustration out of organising online donations for a vast number of small and medium Not for Profits. It’s called eGive!
According to Earth Share’s Chris Harris eGive offers easy and cheap access to regular direct debit and credit card payment facilities for donations, memberships and e-commerce and a range of data management tools.
Harris says from his work with many small NFPs, the big frustration has been not having access to putting donors on monthly payment plans.
He says even the banks allowed them a direct debit facility the costs are decidedly prohibitive and so this has been the primary motivation for setting up eGive.
Harris says eGive offers the opportunity to put members/donors on monthly payments that even volunteer organisations can afford.
The service will also offer an e-commerce facility so that if a small organisation only has t-shirts or pens to sell it can do so individually or as a collective on the web site to trade through eGive.
In the near future, the service will also include a web based data base facility allowing organisations to ‘time-share’ on the server to produce newsletters to members and ultimately it will provide a complete on-line package.
In recent weeks four Not for Profits have trialed eGive which currently provides secure facilities for online monthly direct debit donations, monthly credit card donations and a once-off credit card donation facility. Clients can perform transactions from individual organisations’ sites or directly from eGive.
Each organisation can generate its own reports via a login and password.
A specially designed Kit explaining the service will soon be delivered to another 100 organisations.
Not for Profits pay $50 to join and monthly fees of between zero and $40 while small businesses pay $100 to join and monthly fees of between $15 and $60. Costs per transaction can vary between 4% and 5% for credit card transactions and a maximum of 16 cents per direct debit transaction.
