IAG CrimeSafe Community Grants - Advertorial
18 November 2002 at 12:11 pm

New grants to help build safer communities are being offered by Insurance Australia (“IAG”) – one of the largest general insurance groups in Australia serving more than 3.8 million customers.

IAG operates under NRMA Insurance in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania; SGIO in Western Australia; and SGIC in South Australia.

As part of IAG’s commitment to return value to the community, IAG has adopted a strategy of supporting programs and projects that reduce risk in the community, specifically in the areas of emergency services, injury prevention and crime prevention.

To support local communities in tackling the social factors that underpin involvement in crime, IAG are calling for applications for the 2003 CrimeSafe Grants Program. These grants are designed to encourage local communities to take a greater role in crime prevention.

“As part of Australia’s largest general insurance group, our objective is to contribute to a stable, social environment. Reduced crime levels means fewer claims and lower insurance premiums, allowing us to protect more people from the financial and personal trauma associated with crime,” says Ms Carey Badcoe, IAG National Sponsorship and Community Relations Manager.

The annual grants are part of the national CrimeSafe program, which has operated successfully in eastern Australia for the past seven years.

Since its inception in 1996, the national CrimeSafe program has made an enormous difference to Australian communities by providing over $1 million to support hundreds of community crime prevention projects.

Over $200,000 in grants is now available across the country. The grants range from $500 to $5,000 (including GST) and will be made available to New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmanian, Queensland, South Australian and Western Australian organisations operating crime prevention programs in their communities.

Applications must be received by 17 January 2003. Further information and application forms are available on the following websites:
