Experience shows that community groups, Australian Not for Profit organisations generally need more practical business assistance in the day to day running of their operations but they don’t have access to the latest trends and technology! But help is at hand!

HELP! Smart Business Hints for Community Groups is the first attempt by the SEAL Force program to provide free practical tools in the form of a booklet.

It’s based on the successful models developed by SEAL Force where corporate executives are sponsored by their employer and matched to a community project on a short term or part time basis.

SEAL Force chairman, Alan Schwartz says ideally they would like to provide each organisation with a business-person to help address each organisations needs but the reality is that they don’t have the capacity to meet the demand.

HELP was launched in Melbourne recently by Dr. Barry Jones who congratulated the authors for the relevant and essential information produced in plain language and with an economy of style.

HELP focuses on five areas of assistance: Business, Planning, Marketing, Website Communication, New Income and Sustainability. Each theme is supported by a ‘real life’ case study and a ‘how to’ template for easy adaptation. The HELOP book also provides a list of other useful resources and websites including our own Pro Bono Australia site!

SEAL Force was set up by a group of Williamson leadership alumni who saw that people in the Not for Profit were often passionate about their work but under-resourced in terms of financial and technical skills while those in the corporate sector had high levels of business and technical skills and were willing to volunteers those skills to community projects.
