Church based charity ANGLICARE has produced a unique Top 100 list of businesses large and small that are keen to encourage staff generosity and show concern for the community.

Unlike other lists, the ANGLICARE says its Top100 is not merely a list of companies with attractive financials, but is also a list of community minded and responsive bodies. The list was compiled as companies registered to participate in the annual ANGLICARE Your Money or Your Can food and cash drive.

The organisation says the challenge for ANGLICARE now is to replicate the famous BRW top 500 and has begun the countdown to register a further 400 companies.

ANGLICARE General Manager for Communications, Mrs Dearne Cameron says everyone is familiar with the top 100 companies’ lists that are judged on various business and media indicators. But this year Anglicare felt it was time to shout about the companies who are quick to respond to community need.

Cameron says the hope is that by publishing the list it will encourage companies and the community to get involved in helping those people in our neighbourhoods who simply need a helping hand over the cold winter months.

She says instead of the list being chosen and ranked by investment bankers and venture capitalists, Anglicare’s list is ranked in order of the speed of responses to requests for help. The companies on the list are leading the way in getting the collection of cans and non-perishable food going.

The 100 companies fall into most categories of business, communications & media, grocers & retail, banking & finance, health-care & medical, manufacturing and even professional associations. The names include large organisations like Big W, multinationals like Zircon Systems as well as more local firms such as Topline Shower Screens and Wardrobes.

By registering, employees collect non-perishable food items for distribution to families in need through Anglicare’s emergency relief centres.

For a registration kit for your organisation/company or more information about Your Money or Your Can please call 02 9895 8061.
