One legacy of the Centenary of Federation celebrations 2000 in Victoria is the ambitious and highly successful Federation 100 Hours Program. It created a lasting network of relationships which Pro Bono Australia is now delighted to be asked to take over its management.

Since its launch in December 2000, the Federation 100 Hours Program has facilitated partnerships across Victoria between 76 Not for Profit and community organisations and corporate organisations.

Eighty six percent of the 115 contributors who have registered with the 100 Hours Program have assisted a community organisation in the past twelve months. There are an additional 150 projects registered which are still seeking contributors.

Program manager, Jenni Pattison says Pro Bono Australia stood out as the most appropriate organisation to continue the Federation 100 Hours Program.

She says not only does PBA subscribe to her organisation’ existing philosophies, but also offers additional resources to support Not for Profit groups.

As part of the program, Victorian companies, Institutions, agencies, corporations and groups were asked to donate 100 hours of their skills and talents to the Victorian community.

Not for Profits were encouraged to design projects that can effectively use the contributed hours.

The Chairman of the Centenary of Federation Victoria, Sir Gustav Nossal described the 100 Hours Program as the biggest community development effort in Victoria’s history.

Participants currently involved in the Federation 100 Hours program will continue to access the web site as usual at www.100hours.vic.gov.au.

Jenni Pattison says all management of the site has now been transferred to the Pro Bono Australia offices. Call (03) 9674 3217 or e-mail volunteermatch@probonoaustralia.com.au.

Pro Bono Australia’s General Manager, Julia Page says the project will continue to provide all the functionality of the previous 100 Hours web site and will be hosted by the highly successful Volunteer Match web site.

Page says Pro Bono Australia is delighted to be able to continue to offer this fantastic initiative well past the Centenary of Federation celebrations.
