More than 2,100 organisations across Australia received $5.4 million in funding from the Federal Government’s International Year of Volunteers Small Grants program, and now there is an additional funding boost to help make volunteer work easier.
The Government says that through the initial funding process, one of the messages that came across was that community organisations would appreciate being able to purchase equipment for their volunteers to help make their work easier, safer or more enjoyable.
The Government has listened and responded by making $5 million available .
The IYV 2001 Small Equipment Grants is a one-off program and applications close on Monday 24 September and successful organisations will be announced in October. An official application form must be completed and sent by post.
The Government says organisations with smaller operating budgets will be given priority and an organisation’s volunteer-to-paid-staff ratio will also be taken into account.
A Government spokesman says a large number of applications have been received and expect a last minute influx…If you would like a copy of the guidelines and an application form please send us an e-mail to probono@probonoaustralia.com.au.
