Fundraising from Canada of All Places!

Canada, with a population of 31 million, has a generous tradition of philanthropy and the locals are not averse to looking at the needs of the world outside its borders! That’s the advice from a new book from Chapel and York in a series of ‘how to fundraise’ outside Australia.
It’s called, not surprisingly “Fundraising From Canada” by author Robert B. Hayhoe who says it is a matter of record that large sums of money go from Canadians to fund non-Canadian charitable activities each year.
The author says the task is to determine which aspects and activities are most appropriate for a particular organisation.
The easy-to-read guide offers practical and technical advice on how to raise funds from Canada, including firstly identifying Canadians living in Australia and in your own community and ways of engaging them. It points to ways to ask for money…even advising that Canadians are not surprised to be asked outright to give to your charity or volunteer.
The information goes to the issues of dealing with individuals, Foundations and even large corporations advising on local registration, company and tax issues.
