It's a 'No Go' for the ERICA Awards

The International arm of the data technology/communications group Ericsson has cancelled its planned Ericsson Internet Community Awards – ERICA -for 2001 aimed specifically at the Not for Profit sector.
The company issued a statement saying that as a result of the current global economic environment and the recent restructuring of its company, Ericsson has made the difficult decision to put the Awards program on hold.
The announcement came just weeks after calls for 2001 ERICA applications went out.
Ericsson is no longer accepting applications and it will not be judging the applications that have already been submitted.
The statement says the decision does not affect their commitment to delivering the projects for the winners of the 2000 ERICA Awards.
Last year Ericsson contributed half a million dollars in technology aid world wide to five Not for Profit organisations that were selected for their web ideas.
The ERICA web site has also become inactive. A brief statement says the award program is undergoing restructuring and there are no references to previous winners.
