The power of the Internet is about to show its full force against the US Bush administration if one Not for Profit organisation has its way. The UK based campaign organisation Ethical Consumer or ECRA has set up a new web site to target the companies that bankrolled George Bush into the White House.

Boycottbush.net has been set up to allow individuals to influence the global politics of climate change since George Bush abandoned the USA’s commitment to the Kyoto climate agreement attracting world wide condemnation.

ECRA’s web site wants to show that by targeting companies that bankrolled Bush to victory in November last year by boycotting their products then individuals can force the President’s hand at climate talks in Bonn in July.

The site at www.boycottbush.net lists the top twenty corporate donors to the Republican Party with consumer brands while at the same time noting more ethical alternatives.

Rob Harrison from ECRA says these companies have bought access at the highest level so now let them use it to tell Bush he is wrong on this one.

The companies range from Philip Morris, Microsoft and Coca Cola to even Walt Disney!

ECRA calls on consumers who support urgent international action on climate change to boycott brands from these companies until George Bush undertakes to implement the Kyoto agreement in full.

ECRA says the site will become a focus for debate and information.

Tell us what you think of this Internet idea – if you are a critic or a supporter- on our Forum at probonoaustralia.com.au.

ECRA can be contacted via the web site on e-mail to boycottbush@ethical consumer.org.
