Finding things we need to help our jobs can often take precious time and resources. From time to time Pro Bono Australia will tell you about offers, resources and free things we’ve spotted on and off the internet.

In this edition there are a couple that have caught our eye….

Web Page Offer to Pro Bono Australia Readers

Still trying to find the dollars to set up a web site for your organisation? Or just think it’s all too hard or complicated? Help is at hand thanks to West Australian Web designer Kylie Lovelock.

Kylie has approached us to offer our readers an exclusive web site ‘package’ for just $132 (inc GST)*.

The offer includes:
 a one-page web site,
 search engine registration,
 assistance in obtaining a Domain Name license and
 assistance in negotiating/set-up of site hosting.
(*The package does not include hosting by an Internet Service Provider, which involves an additional cost.)

The offer allows your organisation to include up to three related links including one to the Pro Bono Australia web site, as well as an e-mail response link.

The Package is available to the first 15 Not for Profit organisations to contact Pro Bono Australia via e-mail to probonoaustralia.com.au and the contract with Kylie Lovelock and relevant forms will be forwarded on to you.

Kylie offered a similar package on her own web site last year to the first three organisations to contact her and was inundated with requests. The experience buoyed her to make a new offer to Pro Bono Australia readers this year.

Software Good for the Environment and the Pocket

The environment group Care2.com has found a product that not only makes your computing life easier and less expensive but it also saves rainforests.

Care2.com says the product called FinePrint works like a printer displaying the pages on the screen so that you can preview them in selected layouts for 2, 4, or 8 pages on a single sheet.

It says FinePrint maintains readability by utilising unused area on the paper so even at 4 pages per sheet, most documents are still legible.

As well you can combine web pages, e-mails, listings or any other documents together on fewer sheets of paper. You can also create booklets and print double sided on any printer. A good way to keep your paper costs down.

Care2.com has secured a special deal for readers so that for each copy of the software purchased, FinePrint will donate to its rain forest protection projects. The cost is US$39 and on current exchange rates about $A80.

Pro Bono Australia went to the site to find out just how it works. The ‘sample’ download proved easy to use and a clever way to save paper and still be readable.

To order and/or check out the ‘sample’ download, go through the Care2.com site and help save rainforest land at the same time via the following link: http://www.care2.com/go/redirect/2/1329 .
