Equity Trustees Sets Up New 'Charity' Division
5 March 2001 at 12:03 pm

Fund Managers, Equity Trustees has formed a Charity Division within its organisation in response to the changing trends in the Not for Profit sector.

EQT has appointed the former General Manager of Tattersalls’ lotteries and e-commerce division Jan Byers to head up the new operation.

Byers has 25 years experience in general management roles in retail, manufacturing, entertainment and leisure industries as well as philanthropy

EQT’s new Charity Division provides products and support services to charities and administration and management assistance to corporate foundations.

Byers says while EQT has been closely involved with charities and foundations since its inception, as an advisor and benefactor, the new Division will significantly expand on its traditional role as a trustee company. Currently, EQT manages charitable funds of around $150 million.

She says while EQT does not have the in-house staff to provide all the assistance, a wide data base of outside resources will be used for several fee-based services, including fundraising activities and help with Human Resources in the areas of strategic planning and positioning work.

One of the free services will be to help Not for Profits with asset allocation and making applications for funding.

Jan Byers says looking at recent trends suggests many charities are changing and growing and breaking new ground, and to maintain this they now require professional financial help.

EQT has been providing funds management and financial services since 1888.

For more information, Jan Byers can be contacted via e-mail at jbyers@eqt.com.au
