Accountants Match-Up with Not for Profits

Pro Bono Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia have joined forces to set up a Skilled Volunteer Matching Program.

A Victorian Pilot Scheme is already under way with the Institute providing access to hundreds of young accountants who have been sent questionnaires asking them about their interest in pro bono and volunteer work, and information to link them with a Not for Profit who has indicated special needs.

Already many accountants subscribe to our e-Newsletter to stay in touch with the sector.

The confidential questionnaire aims to match the aspirations and talents of young accountants with the appropriate organisation whether it be using their specialised professional skills or mentoring.

The program builds on the existing relationship that Pro Bono Australia through the Mahlab group has with the financial sector in publishing the ICAA Diary Directory. The pilot program also documents the largely unrecognised and unquantified pro bono work that accountants are involved in.

The initiative is indicative of the general attitude change amongst young professionals with an increased willingness to give back to their communities beyond day to day business dealings.

Once the Victorian pilot has been assessed, it will be extended to a national project of Skilled Volunteer Matching.

Pro Bono Australia is proud of this initiative and looks forward to providing progress reports in the coming months.
