Webcasting live pictures on the Internet of the Paralympic Games in Sydney has received wide international media coverage.
The Philanthropy News Network says the massive project showcased how technology can serve the disabled community.
The New York-based company WeMedia that produced the Paralympics Webcast says the project was a kind of ‘proof-of-concept’ to show that the disabled community can be at the forefront of technology.
Wired News in the States reported that 8000 Internet users watched the webcast of the Paralympic Games on the first day and the numbers just doubled every day after that!
The report says that the technology demonstration is important to a sector that includes 200 million people world wide that have some form of disability.
