The Australian Tax office has announced phase two of its ‘help’ packages for the community, volunteer and cultural sector under the new tax system.
The chairman of the New tax System Advisory Board, Chris Jordan says the ATO will spend $11-million on workshops, one-on-one help and practical information.
Up to 1000 workshops will be offered in 220 locations around Australia from now until the end of October.
The half-day workshops will have an emphasis on the skills needed to complete an Activity Statement and understand the Pay As You Go (PAYG) arrangements. They also include practical materials, case studies and work sheets.
Jordan says new products are being developed to further help the sector, including an honorary treasurer’s manual.
To find out more about the time, dates and places of workshops contact GST Assist on 13 30 88 or the GST Start-Up Assistance web site at www.gststartup.gov.au.
