About the role

The Climate Justice Support Unit (the Unit) is a Federation initiative that supports Victorian CLCs to embed climate and disaster justice in their organisations, within their communities and across the sector. The Unit works together with members to promote just solutions to the challenges posed by climate change, to ensure that affected individuals and communities have access to resources and the support they need.
The Program Lead, Climate Justice Support Unit is a newly created and collaborative role that acts as a critical enabler for the Unit to embed climate change adaptation and disaster response preparation into CLCs. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Program Lead will function as a co-lead of the Unit with the Strategic Lead. The Program Lead will:
- Lead the planning, monitoring, delivery and reporting of the Unit’s climate justice and disaster response projects, priorities and outputs;
- Mobilise the team, enabling effective workflow, collaboration and information sharing;
- Enable climate and disaster justice planning to be embedded through the development and implementation of systems, frameworks
and strategies; - Create environments for effective consultation, collaboration and engagement with members, partners and stakeholders;
- Identify and drive future funding opportunities and support the development of new initiatives and partnerships to enable the sustainability and impact of the Unit.
About YOU
- Strong program management experience to plan, monitor and deliver outcomes in an environment with competing demands and changing priorities;
- Effective people leadership and stakeholder management experience;
- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills; and the ability to think laterally and strategically;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the capability to describe complex issues in plain language;
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; the ability to work collaboratively and build consensus;
- Demonstrated understanding of climate change and how the law and legal system can impact social disadvantage and inequality;
- Flexible, adaptive and able to work effectively in a small team and fast-paced environment;
- Solutions-focused, with a strong commitment to social justice and a values alignment with the Federation;
- An ability to exercise initiative, open to change and receptive to new ideas;
- Desirable: Experience working within the climate justice space, community legal sector or a member-based peak body.
