About the organisation
Hi Neighbour is a volunteer lead organisation based in the Illawarra. We provide training scholarships for locals to move into low carbon jobs. And we do it by brining community together.
Hi Neighbour understands that the renewables revolution is headed for the Coal Coast and knows if we don’t act now it will happen to us, not with us. We need to make sure new low carbon jobs stay local and local community enjoy the benefits of a renewables transformation. To honour the heart of this place and to protect our future, we need to build ourselves into the industries that will come to redefine this region.

About the role
What does a Management Committee member do exactly? Here is how our lawyer defined it…
- to meet as required to consider and approve the movements of funds from the Public Fund (the bank account used to receive all donations); and
- undertake a review of the Public Fund bank account transactions on a periodic basis.
As managers of the Public Fund, the Committee must consider whether the proposed movement of funds from the Public Fund are in accordance with Hi Neighbours budget (as approved by the Board), policies, and the requirement that the Public Fund be used to further the purposes of Hi Neighbour as an environmental charity. The role of the Committee does not extend to deciding how Hi Neighbour spends its money, setting or approving Hi Neighbours budget or setting strategic direction. These are functions of Hi Neighbour’s Board.
You would be working alongside our existing Management Committee Member who is a qualified accountant passional about taking positive action on climate change.http://www.hineighbour.com.au
