Survivors & Mates Support Network (SAMSN) is a not-for-profit organisation that supports adult male survivors of child sexual abuse, along with their family and friends.

We believe male survivors can heal and recover from child sexual abuse, support others to thrive, and be leaders for change.

SAMSN employs qualified staff in its group work programs, individual support and counselling, community engagement and peer support.

Our work is grounded in principles of trauma-informed care and the following values:

SAMSN offers a range of FREE professional & peer support services available to male survivors and their families regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious beliefs. SAMSN aims to build a support network that gives voice and agency to male survivors. These services include individual planned support, professionally facilitated eight-week groups and monthly meetings, Supporters & Survivors workshops and training for service providers.

SAMSN is a Redress Support Service and provides support to eligible male survivors to access the National Redress Scheme.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and highly organised project officer with the right mix of qualifications, skills, and experience to work alongside our Project Lead in an exciting endeavour to make SAMSN services more accessible for male survivors with disability and their supporters. 

You will have an integral role in:

  • Supporting the implementation of SAMSN’s disability project throughout the project cycle.
  • Assisting with the design and delivery of a new online portal, disability access strategy, review and tailoring of SAMSN’s services, supports and internal policies to increase accessibility; and the rollout of tailored promotional strategies.
  • Engagement, consultation and co-design with service users and key stakeholders.
  • Working as part of the SAMSN team to fulfill SAMSN’s aims and values.

This is a unique opportunity for you to make a real difference in the lives of male survivors of childhood sexual abuse with disability and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance an innovative service aimed at increasing access to specialist services for male survivors.

Work Type: 0.4 FTE part-time, contract to 30 June 2024, with opportunity for extension to September 2024.

Classification: Social and Community Services, Level 4. Pay point may be negotiated, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Award: SCHADS – Social, Community, Housing and Disability Services Industry Award

Commensurate with qualifications and experience, you will also benefit from a $15,900 tax free salary packaging component.

Reports to: Disability Project Lead

Location: Hybrid (office-based in Parramatta & work from home)

ABOUT YOU

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination including the ability to work to a project schedule, budget, and project funding targets.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in social work, disability, community development, human services or related disciplines.
  • An ability to network and work collaboratively with a wide range of people and organizations.
  • Must be able to communicate with others effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality outcomes.
  • Ability to work autonomously and responsibly.
  • A valid National Police Check and Working with Children Check.

While not mandatory, previous experience working in child sexual abuse and/or disability will be highly advantageous to your application.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Working with Children Check. SAMSN is a registered employer under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act, 2012. The successful applicant must be approved under the Working with Children Check prior to taking up appointment.
  • NSW Police Check. The successful applicant must be approved under the NSW Police Check prior to taking up appointment.
  • You must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 to comply with conditions of SAMSN’s various funding agreements.
