About the organisation
We exist because we want to build a world where every person who wants a job can get one.
We are a team of bold entrepreneurs on a mission to mainstream jobs-focused social enterprise. We build large-scale social enterprises from the ground up, lead innovative systems change initiatives, and offer expert advisory, financial and property services to help existing social enterprises scale and grow. In four years, we’ve helped enable more than 400 new jobs, incubated four social enterprises, raised $21 million in blended finance for job creation projects, partnered with the federal government to build Australia’s first PBO Payment By Outcomes trial for jobs-focused social enterprises and hosted the world's largest social enterprise conversation – the 2022 Social Enterprise World Forum.
We currently have 32 staff across 12 WBE entities and trusts, with an annual turnover of around $10m. We achieve results by being agile, responsible and collaborative.
About the role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is central to providing strategic leadership for the White Box Enterprises’ (WBE’s) corporate and financial governance, as well as delivery of timely, compliant and effective financial operations. This leadership role will also identify and implement strategies which positions WBE and its entities for growth and stability.
In a young and growing organisation, you’ll be working with one direct report across both strategy and operations, collaborate with leaders, and assist all colleagues. This role is best suited to someone who loves the challenge of managing financial operations for multiple entities and trusts that we operate with, and actively contributes to the change we want to see lived through our social purpose.
You’ll be able to work a hybrid role between home and our main office on Turrbal-Jaggera Country in Brisbane, and although we know your days will be full, can consider part-time flexibility for the right person. You’ll also be collaborating with colleagues along the east coast on Yirriganydji Country in Cairns, Bundjalung Country in Byron Shire, Gadigal Country in Sydney, and Wirundjuri Country in Melbourne.
In addition to your qualifications, we will value:
- 10 years’ experience working in a senior level financial management role, and proven success in managing robust and financial and corporate management systems.
- Extensive working experience working across multiple businesses or entities simultaneously, including small business accounting; deep knowledge working in and on the business.
- Well-regarded experience leading teams with empathy and high levels of collaboration.
- Leadership and management experience in working with, advising an/or supporting Boards (experience within community-based and NFP Boards preferred, but not essential).
- Your alignment to our values of Moonshot, Create Together, Everything is Figure-out-able, and Best Experience.
