About the role
Mental Health Victoria is seeking a VET Teacher for the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (CHC43515). This program is run in partnership with Wodonga TAFE. In consultation with and under the direction of the Coordinator, Learning & Development, the objective of this position is to prepare, conduct, and assess materials related to the course.
The responsibilities within this position description reflect the responsibilities of a fully qualified and experienced higher education teacher.
Wodonga TAFE and MHV have a long-standing partnership delivering the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (CHC43515). Teachers employed by MHV must comply with all compliance requirements as set out by Wodonga TAFE.
The role will back-fill current teachers, with the opportunity for growth.
This position is designated as a hybrid role with the opportunity to work from home by mutual agreement in line with MHV policy. You are required to provide, at your own expense, a reliable internet connection, your own device suitable for the execution of the role and OHS-compliant workspace (desk/table, seating, etc). You will at times be required to attend the MHV offices at Level 6/136 Exhibition Street Melbourne. It is expected that regular face to face interactions will occur with your reporting supervisor.
About you
To be suitable for this role you will have:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent units); or Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education
- Lived experience as a consumer or carer of mental health services and preparedness to use in the work context
- Desirable: Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (CHC43515)
- Other relevant Tertiary/Vocational Education and training or Human Services qualifications (eg: mental health/social work)
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge of training development, delivery, assessment, evaluation and of adult learning principles and practice
- Experience working in the mental health sector
- Current Victorian Working with Children Check or current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
- The capacity to support students who may require additional support.
