Save Birds. Save Life. BirdLife Australia is leading the way in bird conservation, working tirelessly to recover the most threatened wild bird species and restore local environments. They have set ambitious new targets to put birds and nature on the path to recovery as part of their Bird Conservation Strategy restoring ecosystems and slowing down biodiversity loss. Their important work employs a science and evidence-based approach, underpinned by the support of an incredibly diverse organisation with over 350, 000 supporters nationally, donors, volunteers, campaigners and members; over 130 staff across Australia; and a network of more than 40 voluntary community groups. Philanthropic income is on a growth trajectory, and currently accounts for more than 50% of the organisation’s income, funding significant bird and habitat conservation programs across Australia to stop extinctions. Reporting to the Development Strategy Manager, the Individual Giving Lead will have oversight of growing Birdlife Australia’s individual, community and regular giving income streams, which fund significant bird and habitat conservation programs across Australia. The role will lead and support a small, dynamic fundraising team to meet targets and implement fundraising strategy and programs across multiple channels including direct mail, telephone, digital and the online e-store. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement an ambitious 5-year fundraising strategy and targets with the opportunity to pilot new conversion channels
- Grow and develop the donor base through appeals and regular giving
- Harness newly embedded digital technologies to increase community reach and extend fundraising efforts
- Community Fundraising and SME partnerships
- Generate income through Birdlife’s online e-store
- Provide support and mentoring to a small team
About YOU:
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising (and/or related field), and managing regular giving and appeals programs
- Self-motivated, committed and outcomes-focussed fundraising specialist and not afraid to be hands-on
- Excited to build upon an established foundation to make this role your own and take it to the next level
- Strong understanding of CRM systems with ability to extract insights from data and marketing analytics
- Demonstrated experience with setting, managing and delivering on income targets and budgets as well as non-financial KPI’s
- Highly developed written and verbal communications to develop creative donor propositions and deliver presentations to a range of audiences and stakeholders
- Understanding of digital communication and marketing to support integrated fundraising campaigns
- (Desirable) An affinity with the aims, philosophy and values of Birdlife Australia; and knowledge of environmental issues
This is a full-time position and 0.8FTE will also be considered.
