Australian business leaders are being urged to learn how to successfully innovate their brands to ensure a sustainable future.
Sustainable Brands is a global collaboration of business and brand strategists, marketing innovators and sustainability professionals which is convening in Australia for the first time this week.
The Sustainable Brands gathering in Sydney has brought together changemakers representing many of the world’s largest global brands, disruptive social entrepreneurs, NGOs, investors, academics and other stakeholders.
Sustainable Brands and MCI Australia project manager Brylee McFarlane, told Pro Bono Australia News it was time Australian brands learned how to leverage off each other, to build a greater sustainable business community in Australia.
“Sustainable Brands provides a strong platform to achieve this. [It’s] home to a global community of passionate individuals who are committed to leveraging environmental and social innovation to deliver exceptional business performance and shared value to those they impact,” McFarlane said.
“The knowledge sharing that Sustainable Brands offers is crucial to the successful implementation of sustainable business practices in Australia.”
McFarlane said the future for Australian business requires stronger sustainable leadership to move Australia closer towards becoming a more active global player.
“The launch of Sustainable Brands in this market is a reflection of how businesses are taking these sustainability targets seriously,” she said.
“For over a decade, the Sustainable Brands global community has been at the forefront of elevating the business case for embedding environmental and social purpose into the core of a brand, and over the past few years we have seen a growing call from Australian businesses for a local conference.”
SB16 Sydney is organised by MCI Australia and supported by Not for Profit partners Banksia Foundation and Sustainable Business Australia.
