Special Screening of Films for Change
8 March 2016 at 8:37 am

GoodPitch Australia is partnering with the Sydney Women’s Fund as part of their 2016 Films for Change Series with a special screening of Call Me Dad on Wednesday 9 March at the Eternity Theatre in Darlinghurst.

The organisers said  every week one Australian woman is murdered at the hands of her partner, making Call Me Dad a timely documentary to see and discuss during the week of International Women’s Day,

“It is imperative that men are front and centre of the solution to the epidemic of family violence in this country. Call Me Dad is a call to action to men to step up and take responsibility,” spokesperson for the film,Teri Calder said.

The film follows a group of men who have perpetrated, or are at risk of perpetrating, family violence.

“At stake is the safety of children and partners, the stability of families, and the power we as a society have to intervene. These men struggle to maintain intimate relationships without resorting to abuse, physical or otherwise,” Calder said.

“We follow these men over several months, as they attempt to change themselves, and heal fragile bonds with their loved ones.  The film asks the question, can a violent man change?”

GoodPitch Australia is pleased to offer tickets at a special price of $25. The screening will be followed by a Q&A panel with Call Me Dad Producer Madeline Hetherton, Community Manager of White Ribbon Liam Dooley and Director of The Miller Group Libby Darlison.
