Social Leadership Australia is calling for talented NFP executives and future leaders, who are driven to tackle complex social issues but don’t have the means to finance their development, to apply for the Sydney Leadership 2016 scholarships.

The eight month program, established in 1999, is designed to develop leadership skills, abilities and perspectives to achieve progress in the community.

Director of Social Leadership Australia, Geoff Aigner, said the scholarships are aimed at individuals working across diverse sectors who need to build their capacity to create sustainable change.

“The program combines cutting edge methodologies with world class teaching based on the Harvard Adaptive Leadership model and has an emphasis on experiential learning and problem solving in challenging community settings,” Aigner said.

“Sydney Leadership will help you align with your deepest sense of purpose. It will challenge you, inspire you and change you. But most of all, it will help you develop the skills and abilities you need to lead real change on the complex issues that matter most.”

The full scholarships available are the Teen Spirit Foundation Scholarship, for an executive from an NFP with the mission to improve the conditions for vulnerable young Australians, the Johnson and Johnson Medical Scholarships, for those in community, NFP or non-government medical and health sectors, and Indigenous Scholarships, for Indigenous executives who have a focus on making cultural understanding central to responsible leadership.

A number of partial scholarships are also available for executives and managers from the community and Not for Profit sector.

The Scholarships are funded through donor support, including from alumni, businesses, individuals and other organisations with an interest in developing leadership for social impact.

Social Leadership Australia is a social enterprise within the Benevolent Society the the purpose of developing leadership capacity for a better Australia.
