Dreamstarter Funding Round Opens
12 August 2015 at 10:02 am

Social entrepreneurs and changemakers across Australia are being invited to apply for the latest round of ING DIRECT Dreamstarter funding – an online crowdfunding initiative presented by StartSomeGood and the School for Social Entrepreneurs.

For each successful Dreamstarter candidate, ING DIRECT says it provides seed funding of up to 50 per cent of the “tipping point” of the crowdfunding campaigns.

“Dreamstarter also provides access to training on how to run a crowdfunding campaign, campaign support and promotion, and financial management courses to help the change-makers sustainably manage and grow their organisation,” the online banking group said.

“Seven change-makers have already crowdfunded with the support of Dreamstarter this year, raising more than $137,726, bringing the total raised to over half a million dollars since the initiative began.

“The Dreamstarter program is our way of getting behind the ideas of some of Australia's most inspired go-getters – whether it's helping break the cycle of homelessness, connecting communities, or inspiring young people to conserve Australia's unique marine life.”

Successful projects this year included One Voice in Melbourne, providing a mobile shower service for the homeless community, and The Social Outfit in Sydney, a fashion outlet providing training and employment to refugee and new migrant communities.

Candidates for the upcoming round of  Dreamstarter will run their crowdfunding campaign for 30 days, launching in October 2015.

Interested change-makers should visit the Dreamstarter site to find out more and lodge their applications, which are open until 30 August.
