Disability Awards Open
10 March 2015 at 10:14 am

The search for Australia’s outstanding disability enterprise is on with the Federal Government launching its national awards.

Assistant Minister for Social Services, Senator Mitch Fifield, said nominations for the awards were now open.

“The Australian Disability Enterprise Excellence Award celebrates employers who offer meaningful work opportunities for people with disability,” Senator Fifield said.

“The Award is an important way to highlight the great work being done by the 189 ADEs across the country and their 20,000 employees.

“I encourage staff, customers and anyone who is aware of a deserving ADE to nominate for the 2015 ADE Excellence Award.”

“The Award promotes the important role played by ADEs in providing employment opportunities for people with disability and highlights the great variety of services delivered by ADEs.”

The winner and two runners-up will be announced on 19 May 2015 at the National Disability Services’ Employment Forum in Melbourne.

In 2014, packaging and gardening business Mambourin Enterprises won the Australian Disability Enterprise Excellence Award for empowering their employees through training, support and implementing a leadership program.

Mambourin introduced a leadership program to increase the capacity of their workforce and allow graduates to experience team leader roles. The company employs around 60 people with disability.

Nominations close on 10 April 2015.
