Aussie Fundraising Campaign Goes Global

An Australian charity has capitalised on the hipster trend of growing beards, making international news for their Christmas “Beard Baubles” fundraising campaign.
Not for Profit Beard Season teamed up with ad agency Grey London to create the fundraising campaign, which went viral and saw almost $6000 raised in less than a week.
Beard Season encourages men to get their skin checked for melanomas, a cancer that kills more young people than any other in Australia.
The campaign called for people to buy a packet of small Christmas baubles for $13 to give to the bearded person in their life.
The baubles could then be attached to the person’s beard, with hundreds of people sharing photos of their decorated facial hair online.
In just two days the charity announced it was out of stock and was working frantically to ensure that more people could get their hands on the whisker decorations.
Within six days the charity announced that it was completely sold out and imitation versions of the baubles started to appear online.
Limited edition versions of the baubles are now being sold on auction site ebay with bids reaching up to $90.
“Wow! Beard Baubles are officially sold out. Apologies if you missed out,” the charity said on twitter.
“We have been overwhelmed by the response to our Beard Baubles.”
