From current and former Prime Ministers to high profile CEOs and dedicated volunteers, the Not for Profit sector has spoken and nominated a wide range of people for the Inaugural Impact 25.
Almost 200 people were nominated over two weeks with voting now open to see who are the 25 most influential people in the social sector.
Pro Bono Australia News Editor, Lina Caneva, said there had been an overwhelming number of nominations.
“The nominations covered all aspects of the Not for Profit sector as well as delving into the political world,” Caneva said.
“Many are household names, while others are diligent campaigners working tirelessly in their specialised fields.
“All are clearly regarded as having an impact on the people they work with and the causes they have chosen to tackle.”
Hundreds of people took part in the nomination process. CEOs were the most common type of nominee, with 50 being chosen. There were also five politicians and even a cartoonist.
Pro Bono Australia’s own Founder and CEO, Karen Mahlab, was also nominated but she has stepped aside from the voting process to maintain impartiality.
Caneva said she was excited to see who the sector would name as its most influential.
“This is the sector’s chance to tell us who are the 25 most influential people in the social economy,” she said.
The voting stage is now open until Thursday 11 December, with each participant only able to vote once.
Everyone who votes will go into the running to win one of two FREE tickets to the Fundraising Institute of Australia annual conference, to be held in Brisbane from 18 to 20 February 2015, valued at up to $2,000.
The ticket does not include an air fare or accommodation.
