FIA Launches Doing Good Campaign

Fundraising national peak body, the Fundraising Institute Australia has launched a consumer campaign, Doing Good Australia, where people share their personal stories via social media channels to create a groundswell for increased giving in 2014 and beyond.

“The Doing Good campaign aims to positively impact the national decline in giving that Australia has experienced over the past three years,” FIA CEO Rob Edwards said.

“We are encouraging people to share their personal stories of ‘doing good’, whether it be as a donor, benefactor, volunteer or via their chosen career; by posting online and sharing with it their friends.

“The campaign also provides a platform for Aussies to learn more about the diverse range of causes within the Not for Profit sector that they can support, showcased on Doing Good Australia's dedicated crowdfunding website.

“In just 24 hours on the Doing Good Australia Facebook page we hit over 3,700 likes.

“Social media will play an important role in spreading the word about charitable giving in Australia, where we will stimulate conversations around the positive feelings of donating to charity and drive consumers to the Doing Good website to donate to our members' campaigns.

“Not for Profits participating in the campaign to date range from welfare charities, to health organisations, and charities tackling global poverty issues.”

“All participating organisations are FIA members and therefore governed by the Principles & Standards of Fundraising Practice, the professional fundraiser's guide to ethical, accountable and transparent fundraising.

“Interested donors can see exactly how their funds will be used by the cause before they donate.”

The FIA says it is accepting member's campaigns via this link.
