National Award for Community Leader

The CEO of MacKillop Family Services has won the 2014 Robin Clark Award for Inspirational Leadership in the Field.
Micaela Cronin was presented with the award by Minister for Community Services Mary Wooldridge.
The awards are the state’s highest honour for individuals and organisations working with vulnerable children, young people and families.
“I am extremely proud to represent the incredible work we do at MacKillop Family Services,” Cronin said.
“We have a deep commitment and sense of responsibility for providing the best possible care for children in out of home care. The children and young people in our care are some of the most vulnerable members of our community and the support provided through MacKillop enables them to heal and create a better future.”
Cronin has worked in the community sector for more than 25 years and, along with her leadership at MacKillop, she is also the President of the Victorian Council of Social Service and the Deputy President of Australian Council of Social Services.
She is also the Co-Chair of the Victorian Community Sector Reform Council.
“The proof of Micaela’s leadership is evident for anyone to see; she’s galvanised 1,000 staff and volunteers to double the size of MacKillop whilst improving our services and professional practice of our carers. Micaela engages collaboratively with the sector to bring about meaningful advances for kids and families” MacKillop Chairperson Frank Peppard said.
Child Protection Week, which runs from September 7 – 13 this year, is a national campaign run by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) that aims to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect.
