New Media Crucial for Volunteer Networks

The upcoming international volunteering conference, IAVE2014, will look at new media and its ability to influence and inform in a rapidly changing environment.
Organisers of the September event on the Gold Coast says online forums for discussion and sharing of knowledge are increasingly important in achieving the aims of volunteering effort.
In many cases the youth of the world are best positioned to take advantage of innovation as they are more readily exposed.
Raaida Mannaa, Project Manager for IAVE Global Youth Volunteers, says that some of the greatest opportunities that exist today are with growing ways to connect and learn, networking and sharing experiences.
“There is a growing interest in building a social profile that is connected to our contexts and its realities and growing awareness on social innovation and entrepreneurship and its connection to volunteering”, she said.
Mannaa is also the Co-Founder of red2021, a Latin American social media campaign linking personal and organisational youth volunteering commitments.
Raaida said that she looked forward to sharing her stories at the IAVE Youth Conference with young volunteers from all over that world who are seeking for the element that connects them to fellow youth.
Raaida will speak at the IAVE Youth Conference at the Watermark Hotel on the Gold Coast in Australia on 15 to 17 September 2014.
Other leading youth personalities speaking at the conference include Holly Randsom, Chair of the 2014 G20 Youth Summit, Sam Johnson, Founder of the Student Volunteer Army Movement and Benson Saulo, National Indigenous Youth Leadership Academy to name just a few.
